Now that it’s December, voting can commence for our second annual Haunted Holidays Art Contest! Voting is open until December 24th and you can only vote once per IP address. We understand that it will be hard to choose one favorite from such a wonderful selection of talented artists and their fortean masterpieces, so make sure you choose carefully and make your vote count.
A winner will be announced December 26th. The artwork with the most votes will be the winner of a $25 gift card to Dick Blick Art Supplies and a t-shirt from our shop. Once the winner has been decided, all imagery will be posted and shared in a gallery on our website as part of a “virtual exhibition.”
Voting is easy! Simply fill out the poll below and submit your vote.
For Hester
Artist: Angel Hawari (@angelhawari)
Artist Statement: It's called Dear Hester. It's sort of a love [letter] to my mom who passed away when I was in my early 20's. She used to keep a journal to Hester. Who I assume was a fictitious person she could confide in when her life got too difficult to share with anyone she knew.

Baby Krampus
Artist: Kari Bergen (@ephemera__obscura)
Artist Statement: Inspired by the modern costumes worn during Krampusnacht and the stylized Krampus from Victorian Gruß vom Krampus cards. I didn’t give him a basket to carry away naughty children, he’s too small to do that for himself yet 😉. I did give him his one cloven hoof, chains, belt full of bells and tiny Ruten (traditionally made of Birch but I couldn’t find any). This was really fun to work on. I had to try several new things including sewing a fur suit by hand, cutting and styling faux fur and sculpting with clay. I sculpted his ears, horns, fangs and hoof. The tongue which I made before getting clay is made from wire, masking tape and layers of silk. The chain is made from a vintage necklace.
