A shopkeeper in Adana, a city in southern Turkey, was saved from certain harm by a mystery man in early March of this year.

Market manager Serdar Binici'yi was organizing merchandise outside of his shop when from behind him he heard someone say to “look out” and was subsequently touched on his shoulder, reported Turkish news channel NTV.

Binici'yi turned around to discover that a large metal gate had come loose from the bed of a passing truck and was careening toward him; he narrowly dodged out of the way, thanks to the mysterious stranger’s timely warning.

In the video, the man appears prior to the truck rounding the corner to head in Binici'yi’s direction. He walks directly past Binici'yi, in advance of the truck, tapping him on the shoulder as he passes.

At the end of the incident, Binici'yi can be seen looking around after his narrow escape, but the mystery man by then seems to be gone.

It was only after watching CCTV footage of the event that Binici'yi said he saw the helpful stranger.

So far, Binici'yi has been unable to identify the man, but said that he would “like to find the man to thank him.”
