Scottish Mother of Two Lives in Fear of Paranormal Activity within Home

A woman told Glasgow Live last month that she has been living in fear due to an ongoing series of paranormal phenomena within her home in the Pollok neighborhood of Glasgow, Scotland.

The 27-year-old woman, a mother of two, asked to remain anonymous to protect her children.

"It's always when my oldest is home and in bed. It's been happening for a few months now, different things happening each time," she said.

It started happening a few months back, with the tap in the kitchen turning on or the fridge door open, or hearing things at night.
I heard the creak from the baby gate a few times but looked at the monitor and the wee one was sleeping. My ex-partner was in the house at the time it happened and I jumped out the bed to see to my wee girl because I heard the gate, but she was sound asleep in her room.
Another time I walked past my living room to go to the kitchen at night and saw a shadow at the corner of my eye going into my bedroom.
Then things started happening. I would hear noises on the baby monitor and keep looking at it, but my daughter wasn't moving at all and you could hear movement in her room.
It gives me the fear. The most recent [thing which happened] was, the wee one's toy being played with—it doesn't take batteries.

"It's a very loud toy, I heard it in the hallway being moved about and my daughter was in her bed," she added. "I have my six-month-old and three-year-old who I still have a baby monitor for. They were both nowhere near the toy at the time."

The activity has the woman on guard, and has reportedly given her three-year-old daughter nightmares.

"I'm constantly watching the monitor when these things have happened. The wee one has started to have nightmares, she was at her father's last night and he had messaged to say she had another nightmare," the woman said. "I never speak about ghosts or monsters to my little girl because in all honesty, it creeps me out. I haven't got any footage of it—any time something happened I would grab my oldest and bring her into bed with me."

One of the more recent encounters involves the woman's daughter having potentially seen a "monster."

"When she came into my bed a few weeks back, [my daughter was] staring at the corner of my room and pointing to say 'the monster is sleeping,'" she said. "I freaked out. I had to ask her again what she had said because it didn't make sense and she's never said anything like it before."

At this point, the repeated phenomena have begun taking their toll on the young mother.

"My friend won't come to stay with me anymore because of all this. I've messaged her at night when things have been happening," she said. "I'm always in my bed early for the nursery run in the morning so have been awake pretty late the past wee while because of things happening. I want to move because of these things happening, my dad's not very happy with it either, he thinks there is too much negative energy is in the house."

Reports of children being at the center of paranormal activity are not uncommon.

In 2020, Singular Fortean Society lead investigator Tobias Wayland spoke with Olga, a grandmother in Rogers, Minnesota, who said that her grandson had been visited in their home by mysterious, and sometimes terrifying, shadow people. She claimed to have seen one of the entities herself, along with reporting other paranormal activity—including anomalous balls of light and nighttime visitations—experienced by her son and daughter.

These experiences can sometimes lead to a lifetime of encounters, as reported to the Singular Fortean Society by witnesses Deshunda Johnson, whom Wayland interviewed in September of 2020, and Jane, whom he interviewed last year. Both witnesses reported early incidents involving psychic phenomena and otherworldly visitation that were precursors to subsequent experiences throughout their lives.
