Blazing Green Fireball Flashes Over Wisconsin
A bright green fireball appearing over the Midwest in the early morning of Monday, February 6th at 1:27 a.m. has prompted over 185 reports so far to the American Meteor Society. At least one witness in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, stated that the object shook their building, and the Oshkosh Police Department confirmed that they received several reports of a loud boom in the area. One officer said that he saw a bright light streak across the sky.
The meteor was mostly observed in Michigan and Wisconsin, but witnesses from Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Iowa, New York, Kentucky, Minnesota and Ontario (Canada) have also come forward. The American Meteor Society was able to plot the course of the meteor, and the object traveled southwest to northeast before ending its flight in Lake Michigan somewhere between Sheboygan and Manitowoc.
