'Man-like' Being with 'Pterodactyl-like' Wings Seen Near Whitewater, Wisconsin, in 2016, Says Witness
Lon Strickler of Phantoms and Monsters received a report via telephone on February 19th from a witness who said she had seen a 'man-like' being with 'pterodactyl-like' wings gliding across a highway outside of Whitewater, Wisconsin, in 2016.
In late September 2016 at approximately 10PM CT the witness was driving east on E. State Rd. 59 (S. Janesville St.) approximately 7 miles west of Whitewater, Wisconsin. She was heading home after visiting her daughter.
Suddenly a 'man-like' being with huge pterodactyl-like wings glided in front of her and behind another car...flying from right to left at an altitude of 10 feet or so above the road. The witness was totally shocked at what she was seeing. The being's body was definitely human in shape...about 6 ft. in length and the wingspan was at least twice the body length. The wings were membraned like that of a bat and never moved or flapped. The entire being was dark in color. There seemed to be a structure along the top of its head, but no eyes or facial features were seen.
The witness' reaction was to hit the gas pedal and to get out of the area. The driver in front of her must have noticed the winged being as it emerged from the right and sped away as well.
The witness was inspired to report her sighting after seeing a similar sighting from Wisconsin posted to Strickler's website.
"She had read my recent post in reference to the sighting in Chippewa Falls, and was advised by her husband to call and inform me about what she had encountered," Strickler said.
This report is one of several similar sighting reports from southern Wisconsin, which, according to Strickler, are currently being investigated.
"There are other sighting reports from southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois that the task force is currently investigating," he said.
The location of this sighting puts it within 10 miles west of Kettle Moraine State Forest and Whitewater Lake, and a similar distance south west of Cravath and Tripp Lakes; less than 100 miles from Chicago, and around 50 miles from Lake Michigan.
Due to its proximity to Chicago, the sighting has also been added to Strickler's ongoing map of sightings, and will be included in The Singular Fortean Society's running timeline.
This is the latest in a string of flying creature sightings reported in the Chicago area. Most of the sightings have taken place near the lakefront within a few miles of Lake Michigan, although there are some reports coming from the suburbs surrounding Chicago and even farther afield. The sightings generally take place in the evening or at night, often in or near a park and around water, and witnesses consistently describe a large, bat or bird-like creature with humanoid features; although in one case the creature was reportedly "insect-like."
