"Humanoid-Like Creature" Caught on Trail Cam near Sydney, Australia
A person going by the name Cameron claimed recently to have captured an unusual creature on their trail cam in a forest near Sydney, Australia.
The video was reportedly taken on the night of October 21st, 2022, and was later sent to YouTuber MrMBB333, who posted it to his channel on October 30th.
Since then, the video has accumulated almost 130,000 views.
MrMBB333 is a self-described full-time “Earth Watchman” who regularly posts videos about various reported anomalies.
In the video, which begins at around 1:54 into the episode, something that looks like a head with two large, reflective eyes can be seen moving in front of a tree in the lower lefthand corner of the frame.
A dark circle is visible on the tree behind the head.
Also visible are two “lights,” which MrMBB333 explains are caused by a spiderweb close to the camera lens.
According to MrMBB333, the person responsible for recording the footage assumed that the head’s movement triggered the camera’s motion sensor and caused it to start recording.
MrMBB333 goes on to speculate that the head might belong to a creature standing next to the tree, despite no body being visible.
Several filters are applied to the footage, and it does seem evident that some living creature is likely present and that its eyes are reflecting the camera’s infrared light.
Ultimately, no determination is made by MrMBB333, other than the noted presence of “a small creature that has a large head.”
“This is what he submitted to me, I’m simply sharing it with you,” MrMBB333 said of the video.
Viewers of the video are divided in their opinions of what the creature might actually be.
Some, of course, believe the creature to be otherworldly in nature, and its large head and bright eyes do share a passing resemblance to descriptions of other anomalous beings like the Dover Demon or alien Greys.
Others, however, have offered more prosaic explanations. Among them, perhaps the most popular is that this might be a possum sticking its head out of a tree.
Subscribers to this explanation postulate that the dark circle behind the creature’s head is a hole in a hollow tree from which the possum is looking out. The ringtail possum, indigenous to the area, often makes its home in tree hollows. Such an animal, with its snout pointing downward, might appear to have an ovaloid head. That, combined with their large, reflective eyes—adapted to see in the dark since they are largely nocturnal—could give one the appearance of something alien when recorded in grainy night vision footage on a trail cam.
