Jake the Alligator Man

Jake the Alligator Man is a clever piece of taxidermy residing in Long Beach, Washington's Marsh's Free Museum.  Jake was reportedly bought from an antique store by the Marsh family in 1967 for $750, and is the family-owned roadside attraction's most popular exhibit.  His picture has been used as tabloid fodder for a few less-than-reputable news sources over the years, such as The Weekly World News, which displayed a photograph of the chimeric creature under the headline "Half-Alligator Half-Human Found in Florida Swamp" in its November 9th, 1996 edition.  The alligator man is a particularly popular hoax, and enjoys a wide following in the northwestern United States; including an annual birthday party held in August.
