Paranormal Artist Profile: Jeannie Lynn Paske
October’s featured artist Jeannie Lynn Paske describes herself as “mostly self-taught,” although you’d never guess that by looking at her work.
She lives in Portland, Oregon, with her husband and two dogs, and is unsure how to describe her style, simply telling people that it’s “mostly weird creatures and monsters.”
That sounds absolutely perfect for the Singular Fortean Society.
"I have always been fascinated with the strange or unexplained, and prefer a sense of mystery in my art," she told us. "Giving the viewer something to think about is important to me."
Jeannie said she's never had any paranormal experiences, "other than the occasional object that may or may not have moved by itself or unusual shadows out of the corner of my eye," but ghosts and aliens are two of her favorite fortean subjects.
"Ghosts are a favorite as I am captivated by death, however aliens are a close second. I am deeply intrigued by the sky. It is often the focal point of my art. The possibility of life existing out beyond the stars is of great inspiration to me," she said.
She also has "a soft spot for any gentle, large, slow-moving monster."
Don't we all?
Jeannie recently completed an illustrated book entitled Mysterious Species Conservation, which she hopes to publish in the coming year, and in the future would like to "publish more books and perhaps try my hand at animation."
We sincerely hope she does.
