Update on the Eerie Howls Reported in Rhinelander, Wisconsin

Thanks to social media, an article I published in 2020 was recently making the rounds again, leading to the following email.
The email’s subject line read, “Eerie Howl.”
I literally just heard that howling from the video on your site. The second howl was exactly what my dogs and I heard outside after a series of wolf howls. It was enough that the big dogs came to me and the little dog dropped her ball to go inside. It was at approximately 8:30 p.m. on [February 20th, 2025]. I am right outside of Sugar Camp on an acreage. The video is titled Eerie Howls Recorded in Rhinelander, Wisconsin.
I replied to the sender to gather more information but received no response.
The article referenced by this witness told the story of Rhinelander resident Colton Greenhaw, who said that he and his friends and neighbors had all heard a series of eerie howls.
These howls were recorded in three videos, and I included them in the article.
Furthermore, according to Greenhaw, the howls were accompanied by other phenomena, including evidence of rock-throwing and an anomalous footprint. And, he said, he and his friends had on at least one occasion seen an enormous humanoid figure in the woods outside of town.
The town of Sugar Camp is only a dozen miles or so from Rhinelander.
Eerie howls similar to those recorded by Greenhaw and his neighbors have also been recorded in Ohio and northern Ontario, Canada.
Skeptical explanations include everything from wolves to elk to moose, while others attribute the sounds to something more paranormal, like Bigfoot or even Dogman. Wolves and elk have seen a resurgence in northern Wisconsin within the last decade, and the occasional moose does wander down from Canada—but that doesn’t explain Greenhaw’s sighting in the forest or the continued activity reported by him and his friends.
For now, the incidents remain unexplained.
