Girl Injured During Ghost Scare That Closed School in Ghana
A girl was injured earlier this month during a ghost scare in the village of Fumbisi in Ghana’s Builsa District, reported Class FM Online on October 8th.
20 girls at Fumbisi Senior High and Agric school collapsed between October 6th and 7th, allegedly due to the presence of a ghost on campus.
The resulting ghost scare caused a student rampage that forced the school to close, according to authorities.
"A strange object, which looked like a human being, appeared where the children were studying," said District Police Commander for Builsa South, Superintendent Samuel Ntoso.
The human-like "strange object" was first seen at around 11 p.m. that Sunday, and the students present “became frightened and started running for dear life in various directions," he said.
“So, one of the third-year General Arts students, a lady, whose name was given as Salomey Acheampong, happened to jump from the second floor and landed on the ground, so, she got injured and was rushed to the Fumbisi Clinic. But the information we have now is that she has been transferred to Sandema," Superintendent Ntoso continued. “Then also around 1 a.m. this morning [Monday, October 7th], that’s at dawn, some of the students, according to the information we have, went to the housemistress’ bungalow and threw stones to damage some of her properties. From there they continued to the headmaster’s bungalow where they assaulted the night security man. So, when day broke, the troubles were still going on. [The school] prepared their [students'] breakfast for them but they said they will not eat. So, the headmaster, in consultation with the DCE and the Regional Director of Education, took a decision that in order not to sit down for anything bad to happen, they should close the school down until further notice."
“According to the information that we have, some of the girls have some attacks which looks spiritual, so they have been rushed to the Sandema Government Hospital. The school has been closed down and all the students have left the campus," he added.
The girls were hospitalized at Fumbisi Clinic and the Sandema Government Hospital, but have since been released.
A similar case was reported in India earlier this year, when at least five girls attending a government high school were reported to be “possessed” in February, while inmates at a women’s prison in the Tihar Jail prison complex in India reportedly had repeated encounters with the ghost of a mysterious, wailing woman in August, and in October of 2018, parents in Peru were concerned that 'demonic forces' had possessed their children following an incident at a boarding school involving a ouija board.
In each case, reactions have been mixed; some believe the cause to be paranormal, while others suspect mass hysteria. So far, the experiences remain unexplained.
