Reports from the Void: 'It's Not a Dog'

The Singular Fortean Society received the following email in February of 2019:

The winged creature sounds as if it could be the Mothman, as dumb as that sounds. It's been spotted around where I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio on the east side in [the village of] Batavia.

Also, I just moved to this neighborhood called Lockland, and I got chased by the biggest, nastiest dog I've ever seen in my life around dusk and got away. About a week later, I saw the same creature again about 100 feet away from me. It's not a dog. It looks like a hairy man with huge muscles, a snout, short pointy ears, and around three-inch claws. I hate to say it, but it looks kinda like a werewolf. It walked on all fours. Scariest looking thing I've ran across. I've seen it four times, and ever since the first time it chased me and I got away it always stared at me when I've came across it. And I only see it at night time. If you've ever heard of anything like this please get back to me. Thank you.

It’s difficult to discern which “winged creature” the witness is referencing, but it is almost certainly something related to the Lake Michigan Mothman investigation—an assumption made by investigator Tobias Wayland in his response.

"I don't think that's dumb at all, honestly. That's a possibility I'm very much considering," he wrote back to the witness. "That's an interesting story about the dogman. Certainly, I've heard of similar cases, including the Bray Road Beast, which was right here in Wisconsin. I'd be happy to discuss your experience if you like, either by email or telephone. Just let me know what works for you."

No response from the witness was ever received.

The Singular Fortean Society has not received any sighting reports of a winged humanoid in Ohio, but will remain vigilant should any be presented.

Reports from the Void is a repository to share those stories for which we do not have enough information to make a full report. This is usually because of little or no communication from the witness following their initial submission. The Singular Fortean Society will always provide as much information as possible regarding any correspondence during our attempts to speak with those involved.

This series is meant only to present you with the full breadth of the information sent to us, and makes no judgments towards the veracity of any stories shared within it.
