Reports from the Void: 'Bright Lights in Our Room'
The Singular Fortean Society received the following email with the subject line “Bright lights in our room” on November 7th, 2021.
For several years, my wife and I have seen a bright white light in our bedroom. We've seen it at night and during the day. The light lasts for just an instant, at times it fills the room. Our bedroom window has a blind that is always down, there are no street lights near the window as it doesn't face the street. We're not afraid of it, just curious as to where it comes from and what it means. Also, our touch lamps used to come on by themselves.
Has anyone else had similar experiences?
Investigator Tobias Wayland replied to the email in an attempt to gather more information about the light, but received no reply.
Anomalous lights seen inside the home are not particularly unusual within forteana, although they do normally have a discernible source, such as the bright light from a cigar-shaped craft that flooded a North Carolina woman’s bedroom in 1981, the glowing orbs seen occasionally in a Minnesota home since 2012, and the “charcoal-colored cloud shape” emanating an “amber light” that woke a Wisconsin woman up from a dead sleep in 2009.
The lights are often accompanied by other phenomena, including in those cases mentioned above.
In North Carolina, the bright light was followed by encounters with strange, birdlike humanoids; in Minnesota, the glowing orbs were accompanied by sightings of shadow people; and in Wisconsin, the amber light emitted by that “charcoal-colored cloud shape” occurred alongside a lifetime of otherworldly phenomena.
The repeated nature of the phenomenon described in the email is another somewhat unique aspect among the other cases referenced. However, with no other information, it is impossible to say how much its frequency differs from the glowing orbs reported in Minnesota or similar events, or if there could be other phenomena happening concurrently.
Reports from the Void is a repository to share those stories for which we do not have enough information to make a full report. This is usually because of little or no communication from the witness following their initial submission. The Singular Fortean Society will always provide as much information as possible regarding any correspondence during our attempts to speak with those involved.
This series is meant only to present you with the full breadth of the information sent to us, and makes no judgments towards the veracity of any stories shared within it.
