Reports from the Void: 'Me and My Friend Saw This Creature Flying'
The Singular Fortean Society received the following email with “Winged Humanoid” in the subject line on April 23rd, 2020.
[I'm] from eastern Connecticut [and I was] driving home late one night [when] me and my friend saw this creature flying. Its skin was like a moist, gray, fleshy color. It had arms and legs, and its head was bald and had large, sharp teeth. I'm not sure what it was, but we live in a heavily wooded area with some lakes.
Investigator Tobias Wayland attempted to contact the witness and set up an interview, but never received a response.
There is scant information on which to make any determination, but the mention of large, sharp teeth is reminiscent of Floyd Hancock’s childhood encounter with a creature that had huge, leathery wings shaped like those of a bat or gargoyle, and muscular arms and legs. The creature's body and face were thin, and looked like a human skeleton with sharp teeth and dark eyes.
Hancock’s encounter was at least 800 miles west of what might be considered “eastern Connecticut,” and occurred on October 27th, 1969.
Similarly, the Singular Fortean Society received a report from approximately 300 miles south of Connecticut near Parsonsburg, Maryland, in which a woman said that she and her son had encountered a winged creature that "appeared to be a dark grey human about six feet or taller, with smooth skin and bat-like wings" in May of 2019.
The majority of reported winged humanoid sightings take place near wooded areas or bodies of water.
Reports from the Void is a repository to share those stories for which we do not have enough information to make a full report. This is usually because of little or no communication from the witness following their initial submission. The Singular Fortean Society will always provide as much information as possible regarding any correspondence during our attempts to speak with those involved.
