Doorbell Cam Captures Anomalous Lights over England
Matt Doughty, 43, of St Albans in Hertfordshire, England, claims he was watching television with a friend last month when his phone notified him that the doorbell camera at his front door had detected something outside.
When he watched the video recorded by the door cam, he found it had captured three lights moving across the sky in front of his house.
Doughty said he then called his father, an aviation buff, who checked an online flight tracker and was unable to find any plane traffic in the sky overhead at that time.
"I was sat with my friend and said 'blimey, I didn't hear the doorbell go but I've got an alert come up,'" he said in an interview with The Mirror. "I looked at the footage and played it back. It was silent. Three lights came from the sky and I thought it was really weird."
Where it's come through the trees, it's come over the house opposite me then the footage captures it coming from right to left. It disappears over the top of woodland to the left of my house.
It was a bit of a chilling feeling really—I thought "oh my god, that's quite close." I wondered if I'd discovered something nobody knows anything about.
"When I showed [my friend] he said 'jeez, that looks like a UFO,’" added Doughty.
Although some viewers of the video claim to see a triangular craft, the movement of the lights and visibility of the clouds between them would seem to indicate three separate objects.
Skeptical explanations for the lights include floating lanterns, drones, and military helicopters.
A trio of helicopters flying in formation is the most popular explanation so far, but as at least one viewer pointed out, there was no accompanying sound to confirm that hypothesis.
The video prompted others to come forward with their own sightings, including two people who claimed to have seen similar lights in North Carolina, USA, and another person who said that they had received video of a "large triangular craft" filmed by a witness in the middle of the day in Borehamwood, a town less than nine miles from St Albans.
That video is not yet available.
This is the second “UFO” video to come out of Great Britain within the past month, following a video that appears to show an unusual humanoid object recorded flying over the Maryhill neighborhood of Glasgow, Scotland.
