Reports from the Void: 'Me and Three Friends Saw a UFO'
The Singular Fortean Society received the following email on December 28th, 2020.
In the autumn of 2019, me and three friends saw a UFO a few miles south of Oregon, Wisconsin, on Highway 104. It flew over our heads about 100-150 feet high, going about 30mph. It was a black triangle with lights on the edges. It sped out of sight extremely fast when we tried to follow it in our car.
Investigator Tobias Wayland replied to the email in an attempt to schedule an interview, but received no response.
The email subject line read “UFO sighting near Mothman sighting Oregon, WI" in reference to a previously published report shared by two 18-year-old women from Oregon, Wisconsin, who said that they’d seen an eight-to-nine-foot-tall creature with a wingspan of 10 to 15 feet while driving outside of town on November 26th.
Other notable sightings of UFOs in the vicinity of winged humanoid encounters during the Lake Michigan Mothman investigation include Wauconda, Illinois resident Paula’s report of a strange beam of light seen two years prior to the appearance of a hulking, winged creature in the same spot, and Rockford, Illinois resident Jonathan Lane’s report of a “giant, shapeless, black thing” with “two very large red eyes,” seen approximately a year before spotting an unidentified flying object in the same area.
Also of note is the experience of 79-year-old Gerald Turrise, who said he had seen a “winged creature” with “the body of a large man with legs” in Braidwood, Illinois, during the winter of 1957, followed by a sighting of a UFO while on guard duty at a U.S. Army station at a Nike Hercules missile site in Northfield, Illinois, in 1963.
Reports from the Void is a repository to share those stories for which we do not have enough information to make a full report. This is usually because of little or no communication from the witness following their initial submission. The Singular Fortean Society will always provide as much information as possible regarding any correspondence during our attempts to speak with those involved.
This series is meant only to present you with the full breadth of the information sent to us, and makes no judgments towards the veracity of any stories shared within it.
