Man Claims to Have Captured Photo of Bigfoot in Bernard, Iowa
Radio host Jake Truemper shared a photograph to his blog on July 22nd that one man is claiming might contain a bigfoot.
According to Truemper, “The other day, a man named Jeremy saw a figure while on a walk and fortunately managed to get a picture. This happened in Bernard, Iowa at Whitewater Canyon.”
Whitewater Canyon Wildlife Area is a 419-acre park and public hunting ground in Dubuque County.
Jeremy, who opted not to include his last name, said that he was out for a morning walk at Whitewater Canyon with his sister, who lives in Dubuque, Iowa.
"I pointed out the figure and my sister laughed, saying it was a person. We called out to it but got no response," he said. "You don't have to believe me. I wouldn't believe me, but now that I've seen whatever that was first hand... I think I may be a Bigfoot believer now."
The cryptozoology community was largely introduced to the photo after it was shared to Twitter by researcher Jeremiah Byron, host of The Bigfoot Society podcast.
Most viewers were immediately skeptical of the photo, with many bemoaning its low level of quality.
Also noted was the presence of only a single, low quality photo instead of multiple photos or a video.
Truemper, for his part, stated in his blog that he thought the photo represented one of two things: either “just a guy walking,” or a “shadow.”
Byron told The Singular Fortean Society that he was not familiar with the area, and would need to check it out for himself before making any serious determination, although he did point out other alleged bigfoot activity nearby.
“Looking at the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO) site, I see there was [an entry indicating several] class A sightings [between] 2015 and 2016 near the town of Cascade, Iowa, which is about 11 miles from the sighting area in Bernard,” he said.
There are currently 76 sightings listed on the BFRO website for the state of Iowa, with six of those coming from Dubuque County.
