Unidentified Flying Object Filmed over O‘ahu, Hawaii
Multiple witnesses reportedly recorded an unidentified flying object over Hawaii near the end of December, 2020.
26-year-old Misitina Sape told Hawaii News Now that she captured footage of the mysterious, blue, crescent-shaped object over O’ahu on December 29th at 8:26 pm.
Sape said she recorded the incident near Haleakala Avenue in Nanakuli, a census-designated place in O’ahu’s Waiʻanae District.
According to the news outlet, the object was observed by at least several other people, and “multiple videos of what appears to be a glowing‚ oblong mass—both in the sky and in the water” were filmed as the object reportedly fell out of the sky and into the ocean.
One witness, who gave her name as Moriah, said she saw the object passing over Princess Kahanu Estates.
Like Sape, Moriah also recorded her sighting.
“I look up and then I was like oh s***!,” she said. “I started calling my husband and them because they were all in the garage. I was like hey. Come look up there. See if you see what I see. They all said yeah!”
Moriah said that they decided to jump in their car and go after the object, a pursuit that lasted less than three miles. The 38-year-old explained they had given up the chase on Farrington Highway in front of the Board of Water Supply building after the object appeared to drop into the ocean.
“I don’t know what it was,” she said. “This one was going so fast.”
"[It] went and landed in the water, whatever it is," she can be heard saying in her video.
Moriah described the object as larger than a telephone pole and completely silent.
“We called 911,” she said, “For have like one cop or somebody for come out and come check them out.”
After officers arrived on the scene, Moriah said they noticed a second light.
“My husband went and looked up and he seen the white one coming,” she said. “The white one was smaller. Was coming in the same direction as the blue one.”
They lost sight of that object after it passed over a nearby mountain.
Ultimately, Moriah was unsure of what she'd seen.
“To this day I don’t know,” she said. “If you guys can find out what it was, I’d like to know, you know?”
A spokesperson for the Honolulu police department said that they don't have any information on the event, although FAA spokesperson Ian Gregor said the agency received a report from police that night about a possible plane down in the area, but didn't turn up any evidence of a downed aircraft.
"Law enforcement contacted the Federal Aviation Administration the night of Tuesday, December 29th, about a witness report of a possible plane down in that area," he said. "We followed up on the report but had no aircraft disappear off radars, and we had no reports of overdue or missing aircraft."
Naturally, some viewers of the video speculated that the object was otherworldly in nature.
Others, however, had more prosaic opinions.
Self-described “UFO hoax-buster” UFO of Interest tweeted that the object could have been an LED kite.
About the blue UFO over Hawaii, I hope this comparison can help people to be informed about the possible explanation, a led kite.

While another person, responding to an ABC News article on the object, seems convinced it was a luminous paraglider.
I actually looked into this in detail, sought out the video.

Once I watched the video and looked, read the eyewitness reports, I hope the person/paraglider that fell in the water is ok. pic.twitter.com/V9XkC5yCkE
Regardless of the surety with which various viewers have presented their hypotheses, so far no one has come forward to claim responsibility for the object and it remains unexplained.
