Woman Records Unidentified Flying Objects over St Marys, Georgia

St Marys, Georgia, resident Elissa Gonzalez Ogonowski said she was outside of her home with her mother and husband last Saturday, February 19th, when, at approximately 6:17 p.m., they witnessed several strange objects in the sky.

The sighting lasted four to five minutes, she told Georgia-based investigator Aubrey Bowen, during which time she was able to shoot a video of the event.

That video, along with several still images taken from it, were posted to Facebook by Ogonowski the following day.

"It started off with three [objects], my husband was actually the first one to see them," she told Bowen in an interview. "I ran inside and got my phone. There were three, but by the time I came back out with my phone, we could only see two. And then they moved across the sky at the same very slow speed."

Ogonowski and her family watched as the unidentified flying objects, or UFOs, drifted silently towards the northwest until they were out of sight.

Eventually, she said, "We just couldn’t see them anymore. It’s almost like they faded out."

The objects, she explained, "were all three moving at the same speed, parallel to each other. They weren’t all in a line, they were scattered."

Furthermore, they lacked any of the distinguishing features she would expect to see if they were airplanes.

“They were really high, and I know when I see planes flying, I can see with the naked eye that it’s a plane. You can actually see the wings. They’re low enough in our area where you can actually see it’s a plane. These definitely did not have wings; they were definitely farther up than you see planes,” Ogonowski said. “There was nothing around them; no smoke trails, nothing. It’s really bizarre.”

Ogonowski was facing roughly east/northeast when the video was taken, which, given the time of day, meant the sun would have been behind her. This has led some to believe that what she and her family witnessed was the sun reflecting off of an airplane.

Under this hypothesis, the lower object in the video is merely the sun reflecting off of the camera lens, something that makes sense given how it mirrors the appearance and movement of the object above it.

However, Ogonowski insisted that both objects were visible to the naked eye. Light reflecting off of the camera lens can’t explain the second object if that is true.

“The one person that said they were the sun reflecting off of planes...they’re not planes. There’s no way,” she said. “People are going to say what they’re going to say. If people don’t want to believe it, then I don’t really care; I know what I saw. That’s why I took the video, because I know people are skeptical.”

The wind at that time was blowing out of the north/northwest, meaning the objects were headed into it; a fact that rules out balloons or anything else without its own propulsion system.

Ultimately, Ogonowski is left unsure of what she saw. The only thing she can be sure of is that she can’t explain it.

“I think if there was just one of them, it would be much easier to explain it away as something else, but the fact that there were three…I saw what I saw,” she said.
