Former Head of Israeli Space Program's UFO Narrative Contradicted by Latest Info from U.S. Government Insiders
Professor Chaim Eshed said in a recent interview with 7 Days, the Shabbat edition of Yedioth Ahronoth, a national daily newspaper published in Tel Aviv, that "UFOs have asked [us] not to publish that they are here, humanity is not ready yet."
The 87-year-old Eshed has a bachelor's degree in electronic engineering, a master's degree in performance research, and a doctorate in aeronautical engineering.
In 1965, Eshed was selected to serve in the technology unit of the Israeli Defense Force's (IDF) Intelligence Division in research and development. That same year, he received the Israel Security Award for pioneering development; the first of three Israeli security awards he would receive throughout his life. The developments which earned him the awards have not been revealed for security reasons. In 1967, he received the Chief of Staff's award.
In 1969, Eshed was sent by the IDF to the United States to study for his doctorate in aeronautical engineering. Upon his return to Israel, he was appointed head of the research and development department in the Intelligence Corps, where he had earned the rank of lieutenant colonel by the time he was released from service. Following his military service, he became a professor at the Technion's Space Research Institute, and in 1981 established and became the first director of the Challenge Program, a unit of the Research, Weapons Development and Technological Infrastructure Unit in the Ministry of Defense which was in charge of satellite projects. He resigned from his position in the Ministry of Defense in 2011, after being responsible for the launch of at least 20 satellites.
According to Eshed in his interview for 7 Days,
The UFOs have asked [us] not to publish that they are here, [because] humanity is not ready yet. Trump was on the verge of revealing [them], but the aliens in the Galactic Federation are saying: "Wait, let people calm down first." They don’t want to start mass hysteria. They want to first make us sane and understanding.
They have been waiting for humanity to evolve and reach a stage where we will generally understand what space and spaceships are. There’s an agreement between the US government and the aliens. They signed a contract with us to do experiments here. They, too, are researching and trying to understand the whole fabric of the universe, and they want us as helpers. There’s an underground base in the depths of Mars, where their representatives are, and also our American astronauts.
If I had come up with what I’m saying today five years ago, I would have been hospitalized. Wherever I’ve gone with this in academia, they’ve said: "The man has lost his mind." Today they’re already talking differently. I have nothing to lose. I’ve received my degrees and awards, I am respected in universities abroad, where the trend is also changing.
Eshed has reportedly released even more in his new book, The Universe Beyond the Horizon: Conversations with Professor Haim Eshed, in which he "presents observations of UFOs and various theories about their essence, purpose and origin, which in his opinion is probably not from Earth.”
The information provided by Eshed is contradicted by a recent article from Tim McMillan for The Debrief, in which the "U.S. military and intelligence officials, as well as Pentagon emails, offer an unprecedented glimpse behind the scenes of what’s currently going on with The Pentagon’s investigation into UFOs, or as they term them, 'Unidentified Aerial Phenomena' (UAP)."
The article discusses the formation of the Pentagon's Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force (UAPTF), along with multiple classified briefings provided to "lawmakers, Intelligence Community stakeholders, and the highest levels of the U.S. military on encounters with what they say are mysterious airborne objects that defy conventional explanations.”
Along with those briefings, two classified intelligence reports which include "clear photographic evidence" of UFOs have been "widely distributed to the U.S. Intelligence Community." These reports are said to "explicitly state that the Task Force is considering the possibility that these unidentified objects could, as stated by one source from the U.S. Intelligence Community, be operated by 'intelligences of unknown origin.'"
A subject reportedly taken seriously within the documents is that UFOs "may be originating from within the world's oceans." Unidentified submersible objects, or USOs, are not new to ufology, and many eyewitness reports include seeing objects emerging out of water and taking to the air.
Despite the seriousness with which lawmakers and the Department of Defense appear to take the issue of UFOs, "every source The Debrief spoke with who had either seen the published position reports or were familiar with the activities of the UAPTF said that no concise estimate of the situation for [UFOs] has been achieved. While they acknowledged that many hypotheses are being explored, the U.S. government presently lacks any definite explanation for [UFO]-related events."
It seems unlikely, then, that given the information provided by McMillan, the U.S. Government has the kind of relationship with otherworldly intelligences claimed by Eshed.
Comments made by President Trump over the course of his single term in office reinforce the idea that no such relationship exists.
In an interview last summer with Lou Dobbs for Fox Business, President Trump promised the commentator “total transparency” on the UFO phenomenon.
"Your administration, you promised would be transparent and you’ve done your level best to do that, despite the deep state’s efforts to bury everything about as deeply as they could, but I’ve got one question as we conclude here," Dobbs asked at the end of the interview. "Actually, because a lot of my friends are very concerned about what the federal government is doing when it comes to UFOs. If I could just ask you: are we going to commit—are you going to commit—more resources to exploring UFOs and open the documents to the public?"
“Well, I think you're the—probably in this country—you're the UFO expert, so I'm going to be totally guided by the great Lou Dobbs,” President Trump responded. “And I will tell you, I'll do whatever you ask me to do, including total transparency. I’ve got to tell you, there’s probably some really good transparency needed there. There’s no doubt about that.”
That interview followed one from the previous June, in which the president was interviewed by his son, Donald Trump Jr., and asked about the alleged UFO crash at Roswell, New Mexico in 1947.
"There are millions and millions of people who want to go [to Roswell], who want to see it," Trump said during the interview. "I won't talk to you about what I know about it, but it's very interesting. Roswell is a very interesting place with a lot people who would like to know what's going on."
President Trump said at the time that he would "have to think about that one" when asked if he would consider declassifying information regarding the event.
In a May 2020 interview with Reuters, President Trump commented on the recent Pentagon UFO video release of three unclassified videos that have been circulating within the UFO community for years.
According to the news agency, the president "offered lighthearted remarks about a newly released Navy video purportedly showing an unidentified flying object."
“I just wonder if it’s real,” he said. “That’s a hell of a video.”
In June of last year, President Trump told George Stephanopoulos in an interview for ABC News that he does “not particularly” believe that Navy pilots are seeing UFOs.
During the interview, Stephanopoulos asked President Trump if he’d been briefed on the recent reports released by Navy pilots who say they’ve seen UFOs while serving in the military.
“I have,” the president responded. “I think it’s probably…I want them to think whatever they think. They do say, I mean I’ve seen and I’ve read and I’ve heard, and I did have one very brief meeting on it, but people are saying they’re seeing UFOs. Do I believe it? Not particularly.”
When asked if he’d know whether or not there was evidence of extraterrestrials, President Trump responded “I think my great…our great pilots would know.”
“Some of them see things that are a little bit different than in the past,” he continued. “So we’re gonna see. But we’ll watch it; you’ll be the first to know.”
The following month, President Trump was interviewed by Fox News correspondent Tucker Carlson.
When asked by Carlson if he thought UFOs were real, the president expressed skepticism.
"Well, I don’t really want to get into it too much, but personally, I tend to doubt it," President Trump said. "I mean, you have people that swear by it, right? And pilots have come in and they said, and these are pilots that are, not pilots that are into that particular world, but we have had people, saying that they’ve seen things."
"I’m not a believer, but, you know, I guess anything’s possible," he added.
Carlson mentioned that he had spoken to a credible person within the U.S. government who claimed that UFO wreckage had been recovered, but President Trump said that he had no knowledge of any recovered materials.
"I haven’t heard that, no. I haven’t heard that. It has not been, within government, it has not been a big thing, but I have seen it. I’ve seen it on your show, but I have seen it. I don’t assume it’s correct, but, you know, I have an open mind, Tucker," he said.
It is unclear at this time if the president’s statements reflect anything other than a general disinterest in the subject.
