'Jellyfish UFO' Filmed in São Paulo, Brazil, on Same Day as Balloon Release
A video featuring a jellyfish-shaped ‘UFO’ was filmed over São Paulo, Brazil, last February 16th, on what appears to be the same day that many festive balloons were released in the area.
The video, titled Céu de Surpresas (Sky of Surprises), was uploaded to Focus dos Fluxos na Cidade (Focus on Streams in the City), the YouTube channel of Patrícia Donner, on March 8th.
Donner described the object in the video as “curious.”
Reactions to the video were mixed, with some guessing it was a kite or weather balloon, while others suggested it could be of otherworldly origin.
One skeptical evaluation of the video was that the object was a stationary image, perhaps affixed to glass, but a careful examination of the object does show some movement—making that explanation unlikely. The amount that Donner needed to zoom in on the object also argues against that explanation, as well as implying an unusually high altitude for something like a kite.
YouTuber Apaiss, who uses their channel “to debunk lots of videos showing ‘UFOs’…although [they] would love to see a real UFO” responded in the comments section of the video with a link to another video, which was filmed in the same area on the same day.
That video, posted by the YouTube channel Marcel UFO, shows several large, decorative balloons launched around São Paulo last February 16th.
The balloons featured in Marcel UFO’s video are not identical to the object recorded by Donner, but she does have a history of posting questionable UFO videos to her channel, including videos featuring what are almost certainly a variety of balloons and kites.
This latest video, featuring the ‘jellyfish UFO,’ has been viewed over 31,000 times so far.
